As has been published by Touchstone, an interactive arm of Disney, is it any wonder that is like Turok is based on a scenario. This new Turok game is the first time in this series in six years, and feels like a reboot in many ways. Gone are the time-traveling aspects of the previous games, and instead is a science fiction story that a ship crashes on a strange world inhabited by dinosaurs involved. The subsequent action and the story unfolds like a summer blockbuster of Hollywood model, with known and unexpected twists, cheesy dialogue, and plenty of mindless action. You play as Joseph Turok, a Native American warrior who is part of a mission to hunt down a rogue who used to be a military member company. This is not just because they love their fellow team mates, expressed by factors such as Ron Perlman, William Fitchner and Donnie Wahlberg. There is even a hilarious bit of dialogue where a Turok soldier accused of being responsible for the death of his brother; It is such a cliché that you feel you have heard in countless movies online. Consequently, Turok borrows freely from many other sources, and the plot feels like a mishmash of Unreal, Jurassic Park, The Dirty Dozen, and more. Even the visual design of the character and feel of vehicles taken from Gears of War.Regardless, the heart of the game fighting dinosaurs and giant scorpions, flies and lizards. It turns out that the planet is a strange laboratory where the change has been in high speed, regardless of who is responsible for this is a mystery; game leaves the possible sequels to answer. If you are a fan of dinosaurs,
there is plenty of action to admire dinosaurs from different varieties of prey fast as lightning, vegesauruses docile, and, of course, the mighty rex Tyrannosaurus. At your disposal are conventional firearms, such as a pulse rifle, a shotgun, a rocket launcher, and more. You can only carry two weapons at once, and can also handle many dual weapons. However, the best weapon is your trusted knife. The game has a lot of action sequences kinematics which are responsible for mashing a button or interference from a quick trigger to perform a move to kill, to collect a smaller dino and breaking his back in the thigh, the jump over this and clogs knife in his skull, and much more. It is so well done that is a little disturbing how exciting executed knife deaths.Turok is a game that has some great moments, including the first time you meet birds of prey in the tall grass. You can not see until you are almost on top of you, but by then it is too late. However, it is also a game that has problems. Human opponents are fairly conventional, and put in the way of killing more dinosaurs. Another annoying problem is that the game does not know how to quit when you are ahead, especially when it comes to the many set-piece battles. Imagine fighting a horde of giant scorpions or raptors, only to turn around and see another wave rush. And once you finish the wave, more often than not, the third wave appears. The first wave was exciting, but the third wave some frustration sets in. This reinforces the feeling that the designers just meat for the duration of the game. It does not help that the checkpoint saves are few and far between, which means that if the shit in the last wave, which usually have to restart at the
beginning of the complete sequence. There also is not much to the game in terms of story. Ship crashes on the planet. Go find survivors. Go find the radio. Then go find another boat to escape the planet. End. Therefore, the game does not really have the opportunity to explore different configurations, and around the forest is broken only by some internal levels deteriorated. The graphics, powered by the Unreal engine, look-middle of the road, since it is not as strong or as pronounced as in other Unreal-powered games. For example, the textures seem a bit confusing. Of course, there are some great animations, particularly when the dinosaurs are the convulsions of death on the ground. The version of the PlayStation 3 seems like I have a better
lightning and shading, though the Xbox 360 suffers a little less aliasing. However, the two games are very close to each other. The single player portion of Turok will run a solid eight to 10 hours. I feel a little more than most modern shooters, but will likely have difficulty getting through a number of sequences, which explains the length. Then there is the online gameplay. The multiplayer modes can be fun because there are variations of the standard deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Capture the Flag. This adds flavor, however, is the ability to release the dinosaurs in the middle of a battle. These criminal elements are really attacking anyone, regardless of which group is. It is likely that in the middle of a desperate knife fight with another
player (you can run the third person camera movements kill if you are fast enough) in a raptor suddenly bursts from a nearby bush. It is even possible to see someone jump over a dino and slit his throat. There are also a handful of co-op missions that let you tackle some side adventures not seen in the single player mode. There is support for up to four players in cooperative mode, and the effect is more pronounced than in a normal player, because the number of enemies and dinosaurs have increased significantly. The disadvantage is that it is difficult to find a game available online at times, even at night.
