The line is a game full of contrasts. Sand storm battered the city of Dubai, refugees huddle in crude shacks built into luxurious hotels luxury patios, and soldiers built outposts of the first in club glitzy roof. In these makeshift camps battle, the more time spent casually gunning down hundreds of enemy fighters, but team mates still argue passionately about the value of life in virtual anonymity. Mechanically, Spec Ops is a very common game in the third person, but a narrative which tries to raise philosophical questions and put out of your comfort zone. These contrasts create some interesting moments, but very often confused with mediocre performance.The environmental design is one of the highlights. A terrible sandstorm left Dubai with a new geography, defined by dunes and traversing canyons. Trapped by debris swirling, citizens are forced to construct makeshift shelters amid skyscrapers, tilling settlements in the ruins of luxury. Walk a little further than the statues of bright and extravagant mosaic peacock find rickety cots, walls shabby and dirty linen.A
battalion of US soldiers have settled here, after a failed attempt to escape, and military positions add an ominous air collision with the landscape. Fruitless expense items tell a story too; Cars abandoned items left behind in a hurry, and desperate calls for help decorate the walls.These spectacular scenes were marked by politically charged graffiti as an artist network has been set up around the city, anonymous complaints aimed misery of people (smiling images of hotel guests with hollow eyes) and those who have helped worsen the already poor situation (reporter skeleton holding a smiling yellow puppet). Architectural and artistic disparate threads intertwine to create a fascinating landscape, one that is a joy to explore. The view is even more exciting to the computer, such as higher resolutions make for a more detailed and lighting effects richer textures.Unfortunately, there is no such creativity on the real battle. Shooter Spec Ops: The Line is a simple matter to get coverage, popping out to shoot enemies and proceed to greater coverage, where you can shoot more enemies. Firearms are a great number of military rifles, shotguns, pistols and heavy weapons. Enemy fire return the favor with vigor, but they lack the kind of artificial intelligence that can liven up a shot. There are some opportunities ordered to destroy obstacles or ceilings and allow the environment to kill their enemies, but most of the time serving headshots moving (and get a good slow motion bloom for
problems).This monotonicity mechanical gunplay combined with slightly awkward movement, which can not be seen in a position to run at the correct time or melee attack a low barrier instead of jumping on it. Spec Ops does not compare favorably with peers of her sex, when maneuvering around the battlefield, but these deficiencies are rarely an issue in the campaign for a player. In competitive multiplayer modes, however, it becomes an obstacle made worse by the relative fragility. Some interesting map designs, a class of light system, and a good variety of modes objective basis may create some conflicts of fun, but the creaky move would be unlikely to feel invested enough to make a dent significant unlockable weapons team, the advantages and speed options.The campaign itself can be completed in less than seven hours, and the journey that celebrates the Heart dark novel, where a man river paths in the jungle looking for a powerful and enigmatic character who may or may not have left the deep end. In Spec Ops, you play as Walker, one of the three soldiers of Delta Force who come in search of Colonel Konrad, an American commander who took his battalion in Dubai against decisions in hopes of saving people trapped in their interiors. It soon becomes apparent that the situation in the city has worsened dramatically, and there are many factions struggling for survival.Despite the fact that his mission is to save the survivors, the first human beings that are hostile encounter. A failed attempt to communicate that leaves no choice but to defend themselves, and this pattern is repeated in much of the campaign, establishing one of the main narrative contrasts Spec Ops. You are there for a rescue mission, but just can not seem to stop killing people.Sometimes, your given a choice. Trying to save potentially friendly operating, or save two innocent civilians? Who is the culprit, the man who stole water for his family, or the soldier who administers justice take? There are no right or wrong decisions, only a difference in who dies and how. These moments shine the spotlight speech to the group, as shown Lugo and Adams niche on the situation. Usually, they support different sides and react strongly to what they do, but the answer of his character is almost always to intimidate them, talking about "doing the right thing" or "do what I had to do." Then came the time to go out and shoot children in both shooting and sharing of victory cries loaded blasphemy. Moments aimed to encourage reflection fade in the background, drowned in primary narrative excuse of self-defense.There are some moments in history to make an impression, though. There is a humorous homage to the film also inspired Apocalypse Now, and a series of songs licensed channeled to the battlefield to create an attractive fatalistic tone. Both examples are the work of the mysterious radio broadcaster, a disembodied voice and incongruously jocular manipulated from the speakers
throughout the city. Sometimes forced to watch the atrocities has been forged, but often feel cheap, because so rarely have a choice in their activities. Not until the end of Spec Ops campaign becomes more bold and annoying to the narrative, but by then it feels like too little, too late.The disconnect between the game and the narrative elements of Spec Ops: The Line is numb, making it more difficult to watch the dark morality of the war in the way the game wants to do. There are some interesting things you can extract from your adventure through the beautiful ruins of Dubai, but the contrast between the ambition and execution makes the experience as unstable as quicksand.
