Battlestar Galactica is easily one of the best shows on television right now. Of course, it always helps to have some of the most beautiful and most visually poetic seen in a long time space battles. Unfortunately, the same can not be said of Battlestar Galactica, the Xbox Live Arcade and PC downloadable game. The whole complexity of the series has abandoned a disappointing and contraction-heavy arcade experience. Loosely based on the first three seasons of the series (right to leave New Caprica at the start of the third period), Battlestar Galactica allows you to fly as a pilot colonial battle in a variety of handicrafts. These include the Viper Mark II (the "classic" Fighter), the latest Viper Mark VII, the multipurpose vehicle Raptor, the Blackbird stealth fighter, and even a raider. While the handling characteristics vary somewhat among the vessels, the basic principle of the game remains the same: You can fly in a 2D arena battle space using rockets and guns to shoot down enemy ships. Granted, this is an arcade game, but fans of Battlestar was
probably looking a little deeper than it is here. It does not help that a big part of the game feels frustrating and unforgiving. Arriving in a dogfight, he feels like every boat shooting the enemies that even if there is another half dozen Colonial plane nearby. Battles usually include flying straight toward the enemy ship and then shoot missiles and weapons before the overrun. Then you turn around and repeat the process. You get damaged quickly if there are power-ups to health literally bounce around the level until someone throws and collects. When you die (and you will die a lot), will return, so no penalty. What we do will cost, however, it is a precious time. Many of the missions are planned goals: If you die three or four times, 30 or 40 seconds you lose waiting to return and then return to the game will cost you dearly. All you can do is grit your teeth and try again or move the difficulty level easier, because the medium setting is quite forgiving. Sands area is completely 2D and designed more like mazes, despite time. There are lots of debris that may block your path, such as asteroids and flotsam, but it can not hurt a fly in it. Simply click on an invisible barrier that
prevents him from entering areas of the ruins. The camera is also nearby, so you can not pull it so far, which means that it should be based on a mini map and radar to see what comes to you. 10 missions in the game loosely based on various episodes. There is a mission where you have to knock down the scar, an extremely hard Raider in five minutes. Or there is another thing you have to fly a Raptor to rescue the colonial pilots exported and float in space. There's also where you get to fly the Blackbird, as you try to paralyze the resurrection ship, although the blackbird is almost stolen Cylon Raiders because you have no detection problem. When this is done, there is an instant action mode allows Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch against 15 computer-controlled opponents, even if you end up feeling more like fighting dogs simply generic. Then there's multiplayer, which is the same, although the difficulty of finding games online. The pictures are all over the place. The fighters rendered in decent detail, but everything else is relatively low-resolution polygons and low, as the Galactica and Cylon Base Stars same. The sound effects sound like they were lifted directly
from the TV, so you can hear the distinctive sound of a gunshot weapons snake, although there is no voice acting at all (all the dialogue is delivered as text on the screen). Moreover, beautiful and powerful musical score Bear McCreary battle is nowhere, which is strange, because it is an officially licensed game. 800 points of Microsoft, the version of the Xbox Live Arcade is a little pricey for what you get, but this is a bargain compared to the game for the PC, which is about twice the cost of $ 19.99. At least the version of Xbox Live Arcade gives you achievement points, although not many easier here. For example, one requires
to overthrow Scar, without dying in the medium or hard difficulty, a very difficult task. As it is, this game probably will not be interesting for fans of Battlestar Galactica, because it simply does not capture the spirit or the complexity of the inspiration of the TV.
